Hi everyone. Craig here with this week’s sports idiom! This week we chose.
A Hail mary (pass)
This idiom comes from American football. In the game, it means a long pass to the end zone.
Usually when there is not much time left. It can also mean to take a big chance or risk.
For example:
“The quarterback gets the ball with 3 seconds left on the clock…”
試合終了まであと3秒、クォーターバックにボールが回った。
“He throws a hail Mary! Caught in the end zone, TOUCHDOWN! Unbelievable!”
ヘイルメアリーパスだ！エンドゾーンで取られてタッチダウン！信じられない！
