Just an update on our Rugby class.

今回はスポーツ英語のラグビーの科目を紹介したいと思います。

We learn about the history, equipment, playing area, basic rules, positions and how to talk about games.

この授業では、歴史、用具、設備、基礎ルール、ポジション、試合の流れまたは試合の結果に基づいた会話を練習します。

A lot of the students don’t know much about rugby, but they are learning some useful language that they can use to talk about sports.

多くの学生は、ラグビーについて精通しているわけではありませんが、（授業では）どんなスポーツについて話しても使える表現をたくさん勉強しています。

For example, we have free talk about rugby the start of most classes. Here are some of the questions we ask each other.

例えば、授業の最初の数分は、よくラグビーのフリートークをしています。その中でよく出てくる質問をいくつか紹介します。

Where is rugby from?

ラグビー発祥地はどこですか。

Which team is the best in the world?

世界1位のチームはどこですか。

Where is rugby popular?

ラグビーはどこで盛んですか。

Do you know any famous rugby players?

有名なラグビー選手を知っていますか。

What countries are good at rugby?

ラグビーが上手な国はどこですか。

Have you ever seen/been to a rugby game?

ラグビーの試合を見たことはありますか。

Hopefully you can see that these kinds of questions can be used when talking about any game or sport.

もう気付いていると思いますが、こういう質問は、ラグビーだけでなくどんなスポーツ会話でも使えます。

This is really good conversation practice for the students!
