2年生のSituation Englishという授業では英語でディスカッションしながら、それぞれのSNSについて学びます。

Sometimes some people might feel like they want to watch some anime, but they don’t know what to watch.
You might be wondering… What is interesting about anime in the first place?
Well, if you’re one of those people, I’d like to introduce a few ways how to enjoy anime to you.

You might be thinking there are just too many genres and you don’t know which one to choose first.
I agree. There are a lot of different genres, and there is a lot of variety within them too.
For example, action, life, love, comedy, mystery, sports, science fiction, etc…
It might be difficult to find the right piece for you.
If you can’t decide, narrow the options down to the ones you usually enjoy.
That would make it easier to choose.

Or you can choose what you want to watch based on the character designs.
Characters will be often seen on the streets and in advertisements.
Also, people who make anime have their own styles, so character design is not always the same!
Some characters are very realistic and some are cool. I personally like cool characters.
My favorite one is the main character of Sword Art Online.

A lot of people say they don’t have time to watch movies because they’re too long.
Well, another good point about anime is that you can watch it even if you have only 30 min to relax.
Each anime story is usually only about 30 minutes long, so it is shorter compared to movies or drama series and it is as entertaining as watching a movie.
I think that’s one of the best things about anime.

You don’t have to watch it only for the story.
I often hear people say they stopped watching a movie because they didn’t like the main storyline.
The movie is that way, I’m sure.
If I don’t like the main story, I wouldn’t want to spend two hours on it.
But anime is different, each character has a story line.
Not only the main character, but other characters are introduced throughout the story just like the main character.
So, it means you don’t have to understand all of the stories.
If you think this character’s story is not interesting, but you still like one of the others, you can enjoy watching it and you can
also get some merchandise of the character you like.
For example, key chains, stuffed toys, posters, etc…
Finding your favorite character and following its story is also one way to enjoy.

These are some of the ways I usually suggest to people who ask me for anime recommendations.
But I think there are many more ways to enjoy it.
In the end it all depends on you how you want to enjoy that.
