Hi everyone.
Craig here with this week’s sports idiom! Here’s another boxing idiom for you!
クレイグの今週のスポーツイディオムは、再びボクシングからですよ!!
Down and out
It means to be on the ground and knocked out. It usually means you have lost a fight or a game.
We use it when teams look like they might lose and also when we don’t have much motivation.
これはノックアウトされることを意味します。そして、あなたが戦いやゲームに負けたことを意味します。
チームが負ける可能性があると思われる場合や、モチベーションが低い場合に使用しますよ♪
For example:(訳はコテコテの関西弁です)
“It’s 3-0 and only 10 minutes left to play. This team look down and out.”
残り試合時間は10分や、3-0で負けてる。このチームはもう諦めてるんちゃう。
“I’m feeling down and out because my test marks were really bad.”
テストの点がほんま悪すぎて、めっちゃ落ち込んでんねん。。
