We are already busy with preparation for next year but I’ve decided to do a little series on sports English for the blog as we don’t have many classes during the winter break.

もう来年度の準備で忙しくさせていただいておりますが、この時期には授業があまりないため、スポーツ英語を中心したちょっとしたシリーズを書きたいと思います。

I like football so I’m going to focus there, but I think you can use a lot of theses phrases in competitive sports.

私はサッカーが好きなので、主にサッカーに基づいた表現になりますが、他のスポーツや競技でも使いそうな表現と言葉をたくさん紹介したいと思っております。

Let’s start with some phrases you can use in a game.

まずは試合で使う言葉から始めましょう！

This time let’s look at “accidental”

今日の言葉は（アクシデンタル）です。意味は事故的・わざとじゃないです。

For example, when the referee blows the whistle for a foul, you can say

例えば、主審が反則だと判断した時、こういうことを言えます。

“Come on, ref! That was accidental!”

「おいおいレフリー、今のはわざとじゃなかったのに！」
