Craig here with another look at our multi-culture classes.

Recently, we have been learning about Japanese and American stereotypes but today I did a presentation on my country for the students.

I’m from Scotland in the U.K so we talked about a lot of different parts of Scottish and British culture.  I introduced the students to kilts, highland cows, whiskey (they didn’t drink any, don’t worry!), haggis, black pudding, Nessie, sword dancing, the highland games and Scotland’s beautiful capital, Edinburgh!

At the end of the lesson, we did a quiz to see how much they remembered and the students did really well.  I really enjoyed sharing my culture with them and I hope they had a good time.

Next time, the students are going to prepare their own group presentations about Japanese culture.  I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

クレイグです。今回も多文化の授業でどんな活動をしているか紹介したいと思います。最近の多文化講義では日本人とアメリカ人のステレオタイプについて講義を行ってきましたが、今回は、自分の母国について講義をしました。

私はイギリスのスコットランド出身なので、スコットランドとイギリスの文化に纏わるプレゼンをしました。

Kilt (スコットランドの民族衣装)、Highland cows(寒い高地によくいる牛)、ウィスキー（実際に飲んではいないのでご心配なさらずに！）、Haggis (羊の内装で作られているソーセージ)、Black pudding(豚の血と穀物が入ったブラックプリン)、ネッシー、Sword dancing(鋭い剣の周りを踏まないように気をつけながら踊る儀式）、the highland games（スコットランドの伝統的なスポーツ）、そしてスコットランドの首都エディンバラについて話しました。

授業の最後に、今回紹介した内容がしっかりと頭に入っているかを試すためにクイズを出しましたが、全員お見事でした。

自分の母国の文化を生徒に紹介できて嬉しかったですし、生徒たちも楽しんでくれていたら何よりです。

次回は、生徒たちが日本の文化についてグループでプレゼンを行う予定です。生徒達がどのようなプレゼンテーションをしてくれるか楽しみにしています！
