In Slovakia, Christmas celebrations begin with Advent.
スロバキアではクリスマスはアドベント（待降節：12月25日の約4週間前の日曜日からクリスマス・イブまで：キリストの降臨を待ち望む期間）から始まります。
During Advent there are lots of preparations to be made for Christmas, such as cleaning the house, baking, shopping and buying the Christmas Tree.
アドベント期間中はクリスマスに向けてたくさんの準備をしていきます。例えば、家の掃除、ケーキなどの準備、そしてクリスマスツリーを買います。
People usually buy a carp during this time as well and keep it in their bathtub until the Christmas Eve.
だいたいはこの時期に生きていいる鯉を買って、クリスマスイブまでバスタブに入れて泳がせておきます。
The celebrations start on 24th of December and we celebrate for 3 days. This day is known as Stedry den.
お祝いは12月24日（【Stedry den】クリスマス・イブと呼びます）から3日間続きます。
On this day people do not eat anything till dinner time.
We believe that if you manage to get by without food for the whole day, you will see a little golden pig in the evening and that will bring you luck.
この日はディナーの時間まで何も食べません。
もしこの日に何も食べずにいることが出来たら、夕方には幸運を運んでくると言われている小さい金色の豚を見ることが出来ると信じられています。
Basically, all we do on this day is cooking. In the morning, the carp is killed and cooked and during the day we cook the supper.
基本的に、この日にすることと言えば料理をすることです。

In the evening we have dinner, which starts with Oplatky – small bread wafers.
夕方には、Oplatky（オプラツキ）というウエハースから夕食をスタートします。
Usually, Christmas meal consists of 12 dishes, but there are variety of dishes you can prepare so it depends on the religion of your family and the region you live in.
通常はクリスマスの食事は12皿あります。宗教やそれぞれの家族、そしてどの地域に住んでいるかによって準備する料理はさまざまです。
After eating dinner, parents ask the children to leave the room and come back when a bell is rung.
夕食の後には、親は子供たちに部屋から出て、ベルが鳴ったら戻ってくるように言います。
Children believe that Christmas gifts are brought to them by Jezisko (Baby Jesus), but what usually happens is that family members put gifts under the Christmas Tree and then ring a bell, pretending it was Jezisko who brought the gifts and they just missed him.
子供たちはクリスマスプレゼントはJezisko（クリストキント：幼いキリスト）が運んできてくれたと信じていますが、だいたいは家族メンバーがクリスマスツリーの下にプレゼントを置いてベルを鳴らします。
プレゼントを運んできてくれたのはJeziskoで、ちょうど子供たちが会えなかったように振舞いながら！
Family members open the gifts together and spend the next two days watching Christmas movies and relaxing.
家族でプレゼントを一緒に開けて、その後の2日間はクリスマスの映画を見たりリラックスして過ごします。
