It’s that time again.  The famous 6 Nations Tournament has started in the U.K!

またこの時期が来ました！イギリスではシックス・ネイションズの大会が開幕しました！

This is an annual rugby tournament.  Six different countries compete against each other to win a mini league.  The countries are England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France and Italy.

シックス・ネイションズとはヨーロッパの６か国が参加する国際ラグビーユニオン大会です。参加国はイングランド・スコットランド・アイルランド・ウェールズ・フランスとイタリアです。

Last weekend was the first round of the tournament.  Ireland were impressive against Wales and beat them soundly. I was more interested in the England against Scotland match though!

先週は１回戦でした。アイルランドは相変わらず強く余裕でウェールズに勝ちました。でもそれよりも私が興味あったのは、やはりスコットランドとイングランドの試合でした！

When England and Scotland play, the winning team gets the Calcutta Cup. It was an amazing game and both sides played well, but I’m delighted to say Scotland managed to win in the end!

We have won this match for the last three years so I was especially happy about that.

スコットランドとイングランドが対戦した時には、勝利したチームはカルカッタ・カップを手に入れることができます。今回も素晴らしい試合で両チームはよく戦いましたが、嬉しいことに最終的にスコットランドが勝ちました。これで３年連続カルカッタ・カップを勝ち取れたので、私は特に嬉しかったです。

Our next match is against Wales.  We usually lose to them, but maybe this time will be different!

スコットランドの次の相手はウェールズです。ここ数年は負けてしまっていますが、今回こそ勝ってほしいですね。
